Saint Josephine Bakhita Ghana Catholic Community
The Saint Josephine Bakhita Ghana Catholic Community of the Diocese of Arlington, VA, is a vibrant community of Ghanaian Catholics who celebrate Mass every Sunday the Ghanaian way, led by our Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Augustine Kofi Owusu.
Our church community is part of the St. Mary of Sorrows Parish, a Roman Catholic Church located in Fairfax, Virginia. St. Mary of Sorrows Parish is within the Diocese of Arlington, which is under the direction of Most Reverend Michael Francis Burbidge.
Our Mission
Ghana Catholic Community of Arlington Diocese Inc., known as the St. Josephine Bakhita Ghana Catholic Community, gathers Ghanaian Catholics of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia into one family of God for evangelization and spiritual growth. In the spirit of inculturation, we celebrate the Mass and sacraments in Ghanaian languages and English, expressed through Ghanaian culture. We form our children in the faith, care for members in need, and support charitable works locally and in Ghana.
